Subjects We Offer
Classes at Valley Marigold teach a varied and core curriculum designed to provide a full educational experience or naturally weave into the learning you provide at home, depending on the options you select. Each class includes academic instruction blended with a variety of developmental life skills. During the school day you may find us in the kitchen cooking, outside playing learning games, or creating art projects at the big table in our classroom. Our weekly schedule includes music, rhythm, and movement instruction. The children also take responsibility for a small garden—planting, tending, trimming, and harvesting—while enjoying the fruits of their labors. Daily writing activities enable us to see progress over time, and we incorporate practical math lessons into everything we do.
Language Arts Days
Monday and Wednesday classes are focused on the joy of reading and writing. We will also incorporate age-appropriate history lessons and a variety of other fun, developmental activities and games. We write every day as part of our classes.
Math and Science Days
Tuesday and Thursday classes are focused on learning math skills and science discovery. Math games are fun with friends! A variety of movement, balance, and developmental activities will break up and round out each day.
Outdoor Learning Days
Fridays are our adventure days! We meet at a variety of local, wild spaces to explore and play games, and as Ms. Frizzle says, “Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!” Part of building emotionally resilient children is getting out in all weather to find things to do and experiment with nature.
Parents and siblings are invited to join the fun. (A parent or guardian must be in attendance when siblings come.) Pack a lunch and dress for the weather. Don’t forget your water bottles!
Moms’ Retreat—Rest, Reflect, and Reignite
Once each semester, take a well-deserved break to rest, reflect, and reconnect with yourself and our supportive community of moms. This weekend retreat is your time to renew your energy, refresh your perspective, and reignite your passion for education and family life. Step away from the busyness and step into a space of restoration, rejuvenation, and real connection. You’ll leave feeling revitalized and ready to embrace the journey ahead with confidence and joy.
